THE AMERICAN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FOUNDATION, the charitable affiliate of the American Public Transportation Association, provides scholarships, fellowships, transit education and research programs for students and professionals involved in or entering the public transportation field as a career.

2010 Scholarship
Description: The American Public Transportation Foundation has
honored Frank J. Lichtanski, longtime General Manager/CEO of
Monterrey-Salinas Transit in California by creating the Frank J.
Lichtanski Scholarship. The fund will provide tuition support in the
amount of $2,500 to one eligible candidate from small or medium-sized
transit agencies to attend a session of the Eno Transportation
Foundation’s Transit Executive Seminar.
The Eno Transit Executive Seminar ’10 is tailored specifically for
senior-level leaders in transit agencies. The week-long course will help
participants strengthen their leadership capacity and broaden their
industry perspective.
Two courses will be offered in ’10; April and July

Completed 2010 Frank J. Lichtanski Scholarship applications will be
forwarded to the American Public Transportation Foundation Board of
Directors for final selection. The selected scholar will be notified at
the end of February, 2010

Celebrating Champions and Leadership
Congratulations to the 2009 American Public Transportation Scholarship recipients. Twenty-one scholarships were awarded totaling $67,000 to young professionals pursuing careers in public transportation. The scholarship awards program took place in Orlando with an interactive educational session on the next generation of leadership. Session participants were Dr. Barbara Gannon, Ray Melleady, Carolyn Flowers, and Eric Hill. That evening the 2009 scholarship recipients were honored at the APTF’ Gala Reception with special guest Sam “Mr. Clutch” Jones, named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.
