Bombardier Transportation joins the APTF Take Us There Campaign

Raymond Bachant, President, Bombardier Transportation North America, made the announcement during the 2011 American Public Transportation Foundation Scholarship Awards program in New Orleans on Monday, October 3, in conjunction with APTA’s Annual Meeting. Bombardier agreed to fully fund an “APTF Bombardier Transportation Scholarship” within 5 years. “By establishing the Bombardier Transportation Scholarship we hope to help build and sustain a trained professional workforce in public transportation,” said Bachant. “At Bombardier we believe that along with success in business comes the responsibility to make positive contributions to society.”

The APTF Take Us There Campaign means a commitment from 5 corporations, associations or organizations who agree to establish 5 new named scholarship over 5 years. Bombardier is the first corporation to join the campaign. Bombardier Transportation, a global leader in rail technology, offers the broadest portfolio in the rail industry. With nearly 35,000 employees in over 60 countries, Bombardier Transportation delivers innovative products and services that set new standards in sustainable mobility, with over 100,000 vehicles in operation worldwide.

Also, during APTA’s Annual Meeting, the American Public Transportation Foundation Bill Millar Scholarship was fully funded from the net proceeds of the Tribute to Millar event.

The 2011 American Public Transportation Foundation awarded a total of $55,000 to 18 deserving students.
